
Lilacs
From mid-April to mid-June, the delicate perfume and colour of the lilac waken your senses. 450 different varieties of hybrid and botanical lilacs make up this other major collection of the Jardins de Brocéliande. It is unique in Europe and certified by the CCVS (the French national Conservatory of Specialised Plant Collections).

Caracteristics
Did you know that the English name ‘lilac’ comes from the Persian ‘Nilak’, which became ‘Lilak’ in Arabic, meaning “bluish”?
Like the ash and the olive tree, the lilac is a member of the Oleaceae family. At the beginning, it comes from Blakn region.

Les Jardins de Brocéliande, the botanic collection of lilacs
Our collection, planted in 2000, is made up of 230 hybrid varieties* and 30 botanical species**. It was approved by the CCVS (The French Conservatory of Specialised Plant Collections) in 2013. When the month of May comes around, revel in the colours and fragrances of our lilacs!
